Award winning Irish Film ONCE in Irish cinemas this weekend
The award winning Irish film Once, directed and written by John Carney (Bachelors Walk, On the Edge) will be released in Irish cinemas this weekend by Buena Vista International (Ireland).Once, won the Audience Award for World Cinema at the Sundance Film Festival and was discovered by Sundance programmers at the Galway Film Festival last year. The film stars Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova in the leading roles and is a modern-day musical set on the streets of Dublin telling the story of a busker and an immigrant, who fall in love over an eventful week, as they write, rehearse and record a number of songs.
Summit Entertainment is currently selling the film worldwide and Fox Searchlight will release the film in the US later this year.
Written and directed by John Carney Once is produced by Martina Niland and executive produced by David Collins with the assistance of the Bord Scannan na hErieann/the Irish Film Board and RTE, and music by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova.
