NEW IRISH FEATURE FILM KISSES BEGINS PRODUCTION IN DUBLIN
Kisses, a new Irish feature film written and directed by Lance Daly, has started principle photography and will shoot around Dublin for the next five weeks.Kisses tells the tale of two young children who run away from home together at Christmas and is Daly's third feature to date. Previous films include The Halo Effect and Last Days in Dublin. The film features two young Dubliners Kelly O'Neill, 10, and Shane Curry, 11, in the lead roles, who were chosen from thousands of young hopefuls in auditions which took place before Christmas. The film also stars Stephen Rea (Breakfast on Pluto), Paul Roe (Adam & Paul) and Neilà Conroy (Intermission).
Kisses is filming in the Dublin City Centre, Tallaght, Ballyfermot and Ringsend. Scenes include the children making their escape and hitching a ride on a boat which is filmed along the canal from Ballyfermot to Ringsend, and Christmas day scenes on O'Connell Street.
The production has 90% Irish Heads of Department including costume designer Leonie Prendergast, locations manager Pat Nangle, casting director Nick McGinley and sound mixer Rob Flanagan. Production designer Waldemar Kalinowski is also working on the film whose previous credits include The Fast and the Furious and Leaving Las Vegas.
Kisses is produced by Fastnet Films (The Halo Effect) with funding from Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board, Zentropa, Film I Vast, TV3, BCI and Section 481.
