Irish Film THE FRONT LINE Scoops Major Award

Irish Film THE FRONT LINE Scoops Major International Award

Irish film THE FRONT LINE has scooped the Jury Award for Best Feature Film at a celebrity packed awards ceremony in Salerno Film Festival in Italy. THE FRONT LINE is directed by David Gleeson (Cowboys & Angels) and stars Eriq Ebouaney, Gerard McSorley and James Frain. The director Gleeson was at the festival last Saturday night to accept the Jury Award for Best Feature Film for THE FRONT LINE.

Festival director Peppe D’Antonio praised the film for dealing with a complex issue in a unique and entertaining fashion and for touching the audience and the jury emotionally; “Emotion is the essence of cinema and this wonderful film affected each of us deeply. The skill with which David Gleeson brings his film to the screen is hugely impressive. He is a major talent and we look forward to seeing what he does next. The decision to award the Best Feature Film award to THE FRONT LINE was a unanimous one.”

Now in its 12th edition the Linea d’Ombra Salerno Film Festival is part of the Festival delle Culture Giovani and in the past has honoured directors including Ken Loach and the Dardenne brothers.

Accepting the award, David Gleeson commented, “I am happy and proud that THE FRONT LINE has reached out beyond the shores of Ireland and been embraced here. This is a great honour for all of us who worked on this film.”

Released in cinemas in Ireland last Summer, THE FRONT LINE has just opened across Scandinavia. World Sales are being handled by High Point Films.
