Award winning Irish film SMALL ENGINE REPAIR opens in Irish cinemas
The award winning Irish film SMALL ENGINE REPAIR, directed and written by Niall Heery goes on release in Irish cinemas this weekend.
Heery's heart-warming debut film is a humorous drama, set in a small town and centres around forty-something underachiever Doug (Iain Glen), who dreams of making it as a country music singer-songwriter. When he loses his job as a forklift operator and finds his live-in girlfriend with another man, he is forced to live with his buddy Bill (Steven Mackintosh), owner of a none-too-successful small-engine repair shop. Feeling like he's hit rock bottom and with nothing left to lose, he sets about making his dream a reality.
SMALL ENGINE REPAIR, was awarded Best First Film award at last years Galway Film Fleadh and won director Niall Heery, the Screen Directors Guild of Ireland Directors Finders Series Award 2006.
The film was produced by Subotica Entertainment and financed by Bord Scannan na hEireann/ the Irish Film Board, the NIFTC, Swipe Film, RTE and Xtravision, with international rights being sold by Moviehouse Entertainment.
