Small Engine Repair Opens in UK cinemas this weekend
The award winning Irish film SMALL ENGINE REPAIR, directed and written by Niall Heery goes on release in UK cinemas this weekend.The film, which was awarded Best First Film award at last years Galway Film Fleadh and won director Niall Heery, the Screen Directors Guild of Ireland Directors Finders Series Award 2006 has been receiving very positive reviews in the British press.
David Mattin from the BBC, has praised Iain Glen's performance, saying that it is the "brilliantly understated performace of the sensitive, troubled Doug that elevates Small Engine Repair way above the competition". Mark Kermode, the English film critic, has also praised the film and will review it on both BBC News 24 and BBC Five Live.
Iain Glen and Steven Mackintosh (who plays Doug's buddy Bill) appeared on the BBC Breakfast this morning and will be doing a Q&A at the Renoir cinema in London this evening after the screening of the film there.
The film, which opened in Irish cinemas in July, was produced by Subotica Entertainment and financed by Bord Scannan na hEireann/ the Irish Film Board, the NIFTC, Swipe Film, RTE and Xtravision, with international rights being sold by Moviehouse Entertainment.
