Cavan’s First Film Festival Takes Place This Week

The Ramor Film Festival, Co. Cavan's first film festival takes place this week in the Ramor Theatre, Virginia.

The festival has a focus on social change as depicted in Irish film, specifically on the themes of emigration and immigration.

Screenings include films such as Korea, Black Day at BlackRock, I Could Read the Sky, Hard Road to Klondyke and will be complimented by special guest speakers, including Jim Sheridan (The Field, In America), Stephen Rea (The Crying Game, Breakfast on Pluto) and Barry Devlin (Ballykissangel).

There will be workshops in critical analysis, Irish language on film, scriptwriting, filmmaking and animation by Tom Hall (Bachelors Walk), Vinny Murphy (The General), artist Aideen Barry and the Irish Film Institute.

The film festival will also feature the world premiere of Suile Care, a short film by filmmaker Kevin McCann commissioned by Cavan Arts Office under the Per Cent for Art Scheme.

The festival takes place from Tuesday 25th September - Tuesday 2nd October.
