IFB Funded Doc RED MIST to air on Setanta Sports
RED MIST, the 60-minute documentary which looks at Ireland's chaotic preparations for the 2002 World Cup finals is to air on Setanta Sports on Sunday 30th September at 9.30pm.
Written and directed by Eamon Little and produced by Wildfire Films, RED MIST - Roy Keane and The Football Civil War it tells the story of the events that took place in Saipan and Ireland over a six day period in May 2002 when Roy Keane was banished from the team training headquarters before the finals even began.
It draws on the experiences, through animation, of a fictional father and son Gareth and Tommy to provide a snapshot of a nation's fury in that extraordinary week. It recreates the explosive scene where McCarthy and Keane go at it hammer and tongs in the Hyatt Regency ballroom and through the use of archive footage and interviews, the documentary does its best to get under the skin of the subject. Not just a football film it captures a moment in time and is told like a family docu-drama.
RED MIST was funded by Bord Scannan na hEireann / the Irish Film Board.
