The Running Mate to air on TG4
THE RUNNING MATE, the six-part Irish-language series, directed by Declan Recks and produced by Rebecca O'Flanagan, starts on TG4 tonight.
The series, which was partly funded by the Irish Film Board, tells the story of the political skullduggery and intrigue surrounding a bid by a desperate politician Vincent Flynn (Denis Conway) to win a constintuency seat in South Kerry. When his campaign begins to crumble, he teams up with a down-on-his-luck mate to form Carrigeen's most unlikely political machine. His children, wife (played by Carrie Crowley) and father then have to face the ramifications of this decision.
Recks has previously written and directed the acclaimed drama Pure Mule and is currently putting the final touches to his film adaptation of Eugene O'Brien's play Eden.
THE RUNNING MATE begins on TG4, tonight 26th September at 9.30pm.
