True North Wins Best Film Award at Pamplona

TRUE NORTH, directed by Steve Hudson scooped the Best Film Award at the Pamplona Film Festival in Spain this week.

Produced by Sonja Ewers, Benjamina Mirnik and David Collins for Samson Films and Makar Productions, TRUE NORTH, tells the story of Sean, who decides to smuggle Chinese immigrants into Scotland on his boat to make some money in order to save his trawler.  As conditions on the boat deteriorate rapidly for the immigrants, Sean must choose between keeping his ship afloat, or returning home to certain arrest and foreclosure in order to save the lives of the Chinese immigrants.

TRUE NORTH was co-financed by the Irish Film Board, Scottish Screen, UK Film Finances, Eurimages, BBC Films, Filmstiftung NRW, FFA, Pictorian Pictures, ZDF and ARTE.

The Pamplona Film Festival is taking place from October 1st - 6th.
