Award winning actor Tom Murphy passes away
Bord Scannan na hEireann / the Irish Film Board would like to express their condolences on the passing of the award winning Irish actor, Tom Murphy.
The Dublin-born actor, who won a Tony Award for his Broadway performance in Martin McDonagh's THE BEAUTY QUEEN OF LEENANE in 1998, passed away on Saturday after a short illness at the age of 36.
Murphy featured in a number of Irish film and TV dramas in recent years. He starred in the tv series TROUBLE IN PARADISE and in the films INTERMISSION, THE GENERAL, MICHAEL COLLINS and MAN ABOUT DOG. He might be best known, though, for his role as Paul in ADAM & PAUL, a film which tells the tale of two Dublin junkies, where he starred alongside Mark O'Halloran.
It is a huge loss to Irish film and theatre, and deepest sympathies are extended to his family and friends.
