Once receives a BIFA Nomination
John Carney's ONCE has received a nomination for the 10th British Independent Film Awards which will take place in London next month.
The Irish musical, which was funded by Bord Scannan na hEireann/ the Irish Film Board and produced by Samson Films will compete against the Dutch WWII drama Black Book, the Edith Piaf biopic La Vie en Rose, German drama The Lives of Others and the French thriller Tell No One for the Foreign Indie Feature Award.
As well as ONCE being nominated, the Irish actor Cillian Murphy has been nominated for the Best Actor category for his role in the film Sunshine. He faces competition from newcomer Sam Riley (Control), Jim Broadbent (And When Did You Last See Your Father?), Viggo Mortensen (Eastern Promises) and Jamie Bell (Hallam Foe).
The nominations were announced today at London's Haymarket Hotel and the awards ceremony will take place at the Roundhouse in North London on November 28th.
