Production heats up as three new Irish films go into production

Three new indigenous Irish feature films including  A FILM WITH ME IN IT, DAISY CHAIN and OUR WONDERFUL HOME, all of which are produced with finance from Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board (IFB).

Irish comedian Dylan Moran (Run Fat Boy Run, Shaun of the Dead) stars in A FILM WITH ME IN IT, a comedy thriller directed by Ian Fitzgibbon (Spin the Bottle, Fergus's Wedding).

The feature film will also star Amy Huberman (The Clinic) and Mark Doherty. Doherty also scripted the feature, which tells the story of an actor hard on his luck when, through no fault of his own, he ends up with a large number of dead bodies on his hands. Together with his hilarious friend they hatch a genius plan of treating their predicament like a film scenario and try to rewrite the day. As the body count mounts, they pitch ideas back and forth desperately searching for a way out.

A FILM WITH ME IN IT is shooting for four weeks in Dublin and is produced by Parallel films with finance from the IFB and section 481.

Oscar winning actress Samantha Morton (In America, Minority Report) is set to return to Ireland to star in DAISY CHAIN, opposite Steven Mackintosh (Small Engine Repair), a supernatural horror film from Song for a Raggy Boy director Aisling Walsh. Production will begin on October 29th for five weeks on location in Mayo and Wales and

Written by Lauren McKenzie, the story follows a married couple Martha (Morton) and Thomas (Mackintosh), who retreat to the West of Ireland to recover from the stillbirth of their son. The pair foster a disturbed seven year old girl with autism, Daisy, who has lost her entire family in tragic accidents. When a series of mysterious events begin to occur, the locals start whispering that Daisy is an evil fairy changeling but to Martha, Daisy is an innocent child struggling to cope with the loss of her parents.

Content Film International has acquired worldwide rights for the project, which is produced by Subotica Films with finance from the IFB, the Wales Creative IP Fund, the Limelight Fund and the Broadcast Commission of Ireland.

Low budget film OUR WONDERFUL HOME is also set to go into production on November 5th for three weeks in and around the Dublin area. Written and directed by Ivan Kavanagh, the film stars the young Irish actress Emma Eliza Regan in the lead role as a wealthy 17 year-old girl', whose greed leads her on a path of destruction with violent, tragic results for her family. Director Kavanagh works in a drama documentary style without revealing the full story to the actors. The process is very creative and exciting for the lead cast as it often results in extraordinarily naturalistic performances.

OUR WONDERFUL HOME is produced by Ripple World Pictures with finance from the IFB.
