Once nominated for Spirit Awards

The award-winning Irish film ONCE directed by John Carney and starring Glen Hansard, is in line for yet another award, this time for Best Foreign Film at the prestigious Film Independent's Spirit awards.

Film Independent supports filmmakers working outside Hollywood's major studios or within the studios' speciality film divisions.  The awards have become a barometer for which low-budget and art films might compete for Oscars, Golden Globes or other honours in Hollywood's annual awards season.

A modern-day musical set on the streets of Dublin, ONCE tells the story of a busker (Hansard) and an immigrant (Marketa Irglova) who fall in love over an eventful week, as they write, rehearse and record a number of songs.

Despite being produced on a shoestring budget, the film has taken $10m in the US Box Office to date and received critical acclaim worldwide.

The DVD of ONCE, is currently on sale nationwide.
