Garage continues award winning success at international festivals
GARAGE, the award winning Irish film directed by Lenny Abrahamson and starring Pat Shortt, scooped the main prize at this weekend's Turin Film Festival in Italy of €25,000.
This follows the film picking up the Jury Award at the Festival de Chatenay Malabry and the Grand Prix and Students Award at the Festival Cinessone in France last month. Pat Shortt, meanwhile, was awarded the Best Actor award at the Monte Carlo Film Festival last weekend for his role as Josie, the misfit caretaker of a crumbling petrol station in rural Ireland who finds his life changed forever over the course of a summer.
The film previously won the CICAE Award at the Directors Fortnight in Cannes and the Prix Coup de Coeur at the Dinard Film Festival.
GARAGE, produced by Ed Guiney and executively produced by Andrew Lowe for Element Pictures was co-financed by Bord Scannán na hÉireann / the Irish Film Board, Film4, RTÉ and the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland.
