Kings and Garage lead way in IFTA nominations
The nominees for the 5th annual Irish Film and Television Awards (IFTAs) were announced yesterday with the Irish Film Board funded projects Kings and Garage leading the way with Kings receiving 14 nominations and the award winning Garage receiving 11 nominations.
Both films received nominations for Best Film, Best Director - Film (Lenny Abrahamson for Garage and Tom Collins for Kings), Best Script - Film (Mark O'Halloran for Garage and Tom Collins for Kings) as well as nominations in other categories including Director of Photography, Editing, Original Score and Sound.
Pat Shortt (Garage) and Colm Meaney (Kings) were nominated for Best Actor in a Lead Role - Film, while Brendan Conroy and Donal O'Kelly (Kings) and Conor J Ryan and Anne Marie Duff (Garage) were nominated for their supporting roles.
Other IFB funded projects to receive nominations in the film categories include Shrooms, Speed Dating and Becoming Jane, while The Tudors, The Running Mate, Aifric and My Boy Jack are among some of the IFB funded television projects to receive nominations.
