Irish Nominations at the BAFTAs

Irish short film The Crumblegiant, written and directed by John McCloskey, has been nominated for the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA's) for Best Short Animation, while Hesitation, written and directed by the Irish filmmaker Virginia Gilbert has been nominated for Best Short Film. 

Saoirse Ronan, the young Irish actress who starred in Atonement has also been nominated for Best Supporting Actress and Seamus Garvey has also received a nomination in the cinematography category for his work on Atonement. Daniel Day-Lewis, who picked up a Golden Globe earlier this week, has been nominated for Best Actor for his role in There Will Be Blood.


The Crumblegiant
, which was produced by Pearse Moore and Raw Nerve Productions premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh in 2007 as part of Frameworks scheme, funded by Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board, the Arts Council and RTE, where it picked up the second prize in the Best Irish Short Animation.
