U23D in Irish cinemas this weekend
Following the European premiere of U23D last night as part of the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival, the film will open at digital cinemas nationwide tomorrow.
Directed by Irish woman Catherine Owens, the film used the latest 3D technology to capture the experience of being at the band's Buenos Aires performance. The film-makers combined over 100 hours of footage with multi-channel surround sound to recreate the passionate reactions of 80,000 fans during the last leg of their Vertigo tour.
Owens had previously been the visual director of the ZooTV and PopMart tours.
U23D had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival last month and has since gone to the top 20 in the US box office despite limited release due to its 3D format.
U23D opens tomorrow at digital cinemas in Dublin, Dungarvan and Cork.
