Irish filmmaker Pete Travis’s Vantage Point opens in the US
Irish director Peter Travis's Hollywood blockbuster Vantage Point opened in cinemas across the US this week. Starring Dennis Quaid as a Secret Service agent, the edge-of -your-seat thriller focuses on the attempted assassination of the President at a landmark summit on the global war on terror.The story is told in Rashomon style so that the same story is told by eight different people, each telling it differently from different perspectives and emphasizing different facts. It co-stars William Hurt, Matthew Fox, Sigourney Weaver and Forrest Whitaker.
Travis previously directed numerous successful film and television projects including the BAFTA winning Omagh in 2004 which was an examination of the aftermath of Omagh bombing by the Real IRA that killed 29 people in 1998.
Vantage Point will be released in Irish cinemas 7th March 2008.
