British Premiere of Kings to be screened as part of the London Irish Film Festival

The British premiere of KINGS, the Irish-language film directed by Tom Collins and starring Colm Meaney, will be screened as part of the 2008 London Irish Film Festival next month.

KINGS, adapted from Jimmy Murphy's play "Kings of the Kilburn High Road," about Irish laborers searching for an identity in an anonymous London, was the first Irish-language entry for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar.  The film is set in Kilburn, so it is fitting that the screening will take place at the Tricycle Cinema in Kilburn on Friday 14 March. The film will be introduced by Tom Collins at a gala charity screening in aid of the Aisling project.

The 2008 London Irish Film Festival which is run by artistic director David P. Kelly and supported by the Mayor of London, Culture Ireland and the Irish Film Institute, forms part of a range of St Patrick's Day celebrations happening across the city.  The best of Irish film will be showcased at four London venues between 13-16 March and screenings will include new popular features, classic tiles, Irish language short films and documentaries about life in Ireland.

The Mayor of London Ken Livingstone says that the 2008 Irish Film festival, will be a highlight of the capital's St Patrick's Week activities.
