Oscar-Winning Duo Sign Major Music Deal

Fresh from their Oscar win for Best Original Song, Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova have signed a worldwide music publishing deal with Warner/Chappell Music, the music publishing arm of Warner Music Group.

The deal includes songs from the Once soundtrack, songs Hansard has written for his band The Frames, music from Hansards's and Irglova's debut album "The Swell Season" as well as their future songs.

The couple won the Oscar for Best Original Song for "Falling Slowly" from the film Once, directed by John Carney which was also named Best Song at the Critics' Choice Awards.  The Once soundtrack itself landed two Grammy nominations and was voted Best Music From A Film by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association earlier this year.

Neither Glen, Marketa, nor The Frames had recording contracts. Warner/Chappell music boss Glen Brunman said that "Glen and Mar's songs have touched so many who have seen the film Once;  Glen's work with The Frames will continue to rock, and we'll make sure that it reaches an even wider audience".

Hansard and Irglova will be touring the U.S. from late April through mid-June.
