Irish Be Kind Rewind 'Sweded' Film Winner Announced
The winner of the Irish Be Kind Rewind ‘sweded' film competition has been announced as Conor Steenson with his version of the award winning Irish film Once. His short film can be viewed on YouTube on the following link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XN2y2wBSQDU.The IFB were delighted to be involved in the competition which coincided with the release of Academy Award-winner Michel Gondry's comedy, Be Kind Rewind starring Jack Black and Mos Def.
Using an Irish or Irish-themed film as inspiration, the competition involved getting budding filmmakers to make their own short ‘sweded' movie. A ‘sweded' movie is a re-imagining of a film, trailer or scene made using anything that is to hand.
Conor picked up prizes sponsored by the IFB, Filmbase, Darklight Festival and Channel 6 which included two tickets to an Irish movie premiere, a walk-on-part in an Irish Production, a year's free membership to Filmbase and a screening of his short film on Channel 6 and at the Darklight Festival in June.
