Irish Documentary SEAVIEW to premiere at Hot Docs Festival

The Irish documentary SEAVIEW will have its North American premiere at Hot Docs, the Canadian International Documentary Festival which takes place in Toronto from April 17 - 27.  Directed by Nicky Gogan and Paul Rowley, this will be its second international festival screening following its official selection for the Forum at the Berlinale Film Festival in February.

SEAVIEW tells the intimate stories of the trauma, expectation and fear of exportation inside a holding centre for asylum seekers which was once an Irish holiday camp.  The documentary was produced by Paul Rowley, Nicola Gogan, Maya Derrington and Still Films with funding from the IFB, NYSCA and Darklight.

Another Irish documentary THE TRIAL, which is directed by Rob O'Reilly, has been selected for the festival's prestigious Toronto Documentary Forum.  Produced by John Murphy for Headland Pictures and executively produced by Little Bird, it will be pitched to key international commissioning editors.

Funded by the IFB, Headland Pictures and SBS Australia, it follows the trial of Ramush Haradinaj, former prime minister of Kosovo, at the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia at The Hague, where he was charged and recently acquitted of charges related to war crimes.  The filmmakers have been following Ramush during this dramatic period which has resulted in an intimate and gripping portrait of the man and the trial.

Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival is North America's largest documentary festival. Each year, the festival presents a selection of more than 100 cutting-edge documentaries from Canada and around the globe. Through its industry programmes, the Festival also provides a full range of professional development, market and networking opportunities for documentary professionals.
