New Irish Film Events Announced for Guth Gafa Documentary Film Festival

Bord Scannán na hÉireann/ the Irish Film Board is delighted to announce it's support again this year as an industry partner for the 3rd Guth Gafa Documentary Film Festival which takes place in Gortahork, Donegal 15th - 18th May.

There will be a wide range of industry events taking place aimed at documentary filmmakers over the duration of the weekend including two seminars, ‘Film-making for Social Change' and ‘Get Your Film Seen - the future of distribution' and a series of side-bar events dealing with topics such as the future of Irish language broadcasting, RTE's regional policy and activist/grassroots films.

Irish filmmakers will in particular have an opportunity to meet with international delegates including Jim Gilliam, producer with Robert Greenwald Pictures and Brave New Films, Danielle Di Giacoma, Documentary Acquisitions Director with IndiePix in New York and Anne Baumann, Commissioning Editor, ARTE along with many international filmmakers who will be attending the workshops and the festival.

This year's festival also promises a rich and varied programme of 25 quality international and Irish documentary premieres, with an emphasis on human rights, the Irish language and a special Polish season of films.

Following the success of last years master class with Micha X. Peled, Screen Training Ireland will again conduct a master class with a top international filmmaker.
