The Tudors Green-Lit to Return to Ireland for a Third Season
America's Showtime has given the third season of THE TUDORS the green light and shooting is to set to start in Dublin on June 16th.Jonathan Rhys Meyers will return to star as King Henry VIII as this series follows the king as he weds third wife Jane Seymour (Anita Briem) and then Anne of Cleves (still to be cast).
The announcement comes after Showtime recently reiterated its commitment to original programming. "THE TUDORS is now a fixture for us at Showtime, and we're on our way to completing the entire saga of all six wives of Henry VIII," Showtime president of entertainment Robert Greenblatt said.
The second series of THE TUDORS is currently showing in the US and continues to pull in strong ratings and generate very positive press for Showtime. In addition, Showtime said THE TUDORS is one of CBS Home Entertainment's top-selling titles. Both the series and Jonathan Rhys Meyers earned Golden Globe nominations earlier this year.
THE TUDORS was produced by TM Productions and PA Tudors, with the support of Morgan O'Sullivan's production company World 2000 Entertainment. It is an official Irish/Canadian co-production and co-financed Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board through the IFB international production fund
