Membership of IFTA now open for 2008/09

Membership of the Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) is now open for 2008/09. The deadline for the early bird discount, where Irish film and TV professionals wishing to get membership can avail of a 10% discount ends Friday, May 9th 2008.

IFTA is the all-Ireland organisation which aims to promote, encourage and reward creative excellence in film and television.  The Academy has three levels of membership options available - Full, Associate and now Student membership, which can help give students a head start in the industry.

Benefits of IFTA membership include
  • Film and TV screenings organised by the IFTA Film Club
  • 2 for 1 cinema tickets in selected cinemas
  • Invitations to networking events like the IFTA Summer BBQ and Christmas Party
  • Concession ticket rates at the Cork, Dingle, Darklight and Galway Film Festivals
  • 20% off your Screen International Annual subscription;
  • Masterclasses /Workshops for each IFTA Chapter
  • Full Members can vote in the 6th Annual Irish Film & Television Awards to be held in February 2009.

To become a Full Member of IFTA you must have a minimum of four years professional experience and demonstrate that you are working at an appropriate level as defined by each individual chapter, and/or have made a significant contribution to the industry. Associate Membership is for those who work within the industry but do not meet the criteria for Full membership at this time. For Student Membership, you must be in your final year of third level education or a post-graduate in an industry related course.

Applicants select to become a member of one of fourteen IFTA chapters; Acting, Animation, Cinematography, Costume, Directing, Editing, Hair & Make Up, Music Production Design, Producer, Sound, Writing, Television Other and Film Other.
