Eva Green Stars in New Feature Film CRACKS filming on location in Ireland
Principal photography has begun in Ireland on Jordan Scott’s debut feature CRACKS will run for 7 weeks. The film stars Eva Green (Casino Royale, The Golden Compass), Juno Temple (Atonement), Imogen Poots (28 Weeks Later) and Maria Valverde (La Flaqueza del bolchevique).
Set in England in 1934 in an austere and cloistered girl’s boarding school, CRACKS is a compelling tale of innocence corrupted. The girl’s unhealthy bond with their beloved teacher “Miss G” is threatened by the arrival of an exotic and beautiful foreign student whose rejection of “Miss G’s” attentions threatens the status quo, and brings tragic consequences for them all.
CRACKS is a co-production between Irish production company Element Pictures (Garage, The Wind That Shakes The Barley) and UK production companies Scott Free (American Gangster, Gladiator) and Future Films (Flawless, Goodbye Bafana). Killer Films and Industry Entertainment who originally developed the project are also producing.
Naoise Barry, Film Commission, Bord Scannan na hEireann/the Irish Film Board said “We are delighted that Jordan Scott has chosen to film her first film on location in Ireland. The Irish Board's US office has worked hard to attract this production. Ireland is particularly attractive for feature films in the $10 to $30 million range, the combination of our tax incentive section 481 and IFB finance was key to the financing of this project".
Andrew Lowe of Element Pictures commented “We are delighted to be working with Jordan Scott and the wonderful cast that she has put together for this film. We are particularly pleased that Jordan has cast two 13 year old Dublin girls, with no previous drama experience, Adele McCann and Zoë Carroll for two key roles. We are very grateful for the funding from the Irish Film Board which proved crucial in securing this film to shoot in Ireland.”
Julie Payne of Scott Free said “The range and beauty of the locations, in and around Dublin, together with the passion and commitment of great cast and crew have combined to bring the spirit of this very unique and dramatic script to life and truly realise Jordan Scott’s vision for her film. We are especially pleased to be working with Andrew Lowe and everyone at Element Pictures and thankful to the Irish Film Community and the Irish Film Board for their commitment and support”
Stephen Margolis of Future Films commented “We are pleased to be working in Ireland and with so many very talented Irish cast and crew”.
