Irish Film Board Short Pilgrim to Screen with Polish Film Jeszcze Raz (Once Again)
Polishfilmclub.com have announced that the Irish Film Board short PILGRIM is to screen with the Polish film JESZCZE RAZ, in the Gate Cinema in Cork on June 25th and 26th at 7pm.PILGRIM, directed by Matthew Darragh, tells a tale about a stranger in an unknown land braving many dangers as he strives to fulfil his function. Darragh picked up Best Director at the Kerry Film Festival for the film which jury member Mike Leigh (Vera Drake) described as "a brilliant and original little film. Mathew Darragh is in complete control of the medium. He has followed through his idea with wit, style, a sure grasp of rhythm, timing and characterisation, and great spatial imagination. The result is both hilarious and moving."
PILGRIM, which picked up 2nd place award for Best Animation Film at the Kerry Film Festival and a Special Recommendation at the Galway Film Fleadh, was produced by Monster Animation and commissioned by the Irish Film Board as part of the Short Shorts film scheme.
JESZCZE RAZ, a Polish romantic comeday starring Danuta Stenka and Jan Frycz tells the parallel romantic adventures of a mother and daughter over the course of a summer. As usual in romantic comedies, a whole series of misunderstandings and complications ensue.
