Irish Short Frankie Wins Audience Award at Los Angeles Film Festival
The Irish short film Frankie has scooped the Audience Award for Best Short Film at the Los Angeles Film Festival this week.Directed by Darren Thornton, the film follows a day in the life of Frankie, a 15 year old boy who is preparing for fatherhood.
The Los Angeles Film Festival announced its 2008 award winners at the Festival's Awards Night on Sunday, June 29 with awards being presented by a host of top Hollywood celebrities including Rosanna Arquette and Halle Berry.
Produced by Collette Farrell and Calipo Picture Company for the IFB Short Cuts scheme, Frankie has already picked up the UIP Prix Award for Best Short Film at the Berlinale Film Festival earlier this year and Best First Irish Short at the Galway Film Fleadh and Best Irish Short Film at the Corona Cork Film Festival last year.
