New Boy scoops award at Melbourne International Film Festival

Steph Green's New Boy has been awarded the Shannon's Way Award for a short film promoting Human Rights at the prestigious 57th Melbourne International Film Festival.


Sponsored by the Irish Film Board, Steph Green and producer Tamara Anghie attended the festival where New Boy screened as part of two sold out shorts programmes with audiences numbering about 1,200 people. The award was presented on Friday 9th August by the Festival's chairperson, Claire Dobbin who described it as a "beautiful short film".

Steph Green was also selected as one of only two non Australasian film makers for the competitive Accelerator program for directors. Accelerator is an intensive 4 day industry program within the festival which selects up to 12 film makers to promote their development in international film making.

New Boy was produced with funding from the IFB's Short Cuts scheme.
