Eden to Open First Irish Film Festival in Los Angeles

The award-winning Irish drama, EDEN has been selected to open the first ever Irish Film Festival Of Los Angeles next month.

EDEN, the latest film collaboration between director Declan Recks, producer David Collins and award winning playwright Eugene O'Brien will screen on the first night of the four day festival on October 2 in Beverly Hills. Starring Eileen Walsh and Aidan Kelly, the film is the portrait of a married couple that Eugene O'Brien adapted from his play of the same name.

The film had its international premiere at the Tribecca Film Festival earlier this year where Eileen Walsh was awarded the Best Actress Award. Since then the film has been picked up for theatrical distribution in North America by Liberation Entertainment and is due to be released later this year.

Other Irish Film Board funded films screening in the festival include Tom Collins' drama Kings starring Colm Meaney, Donal O'Kelly and Brendan Conroy and Cathal Black's documentary Learning Gravity (aka The Undertaking).

The festival will also host a panel discussion entitled "Shooting the Green: Funding and shooting in the Republic of Ireland." The panel, which will focus on how to tap into Ireland's tax incentives for co-production, will include Jonathan Loughran, VP Irish Film Commission U.S.; film and television financing attorney Bill Grantham of Greenberg Traurig; and educator and producer Gabrielle Kelly.
