New Boy to Screen as part of Roddy Doyle Film Retrospective
New Boy, the award winning short film directed by Steph Green has been selected to screen at the 4th Adaptation Festival which is taking place in Dromahaire, Co. Leitrim from 12th - 14th September.This year the focus of the festival is on Roddy Doyle, one of Ireland's most successful and celebrated writers and will include a broad range of his film works that have been adapted from short story to film such as New Boy and those works Doyle has written directly for screen such as When Brendan Met Trudy.
During the festival, Roddy Doyle will also give a public interview to be broadcast on RTE's The Arts Show.
New Boy, which picked up awards at the Tribeca, Seattle and Melbourne International Film Festivals this year, captures the experience of being the new boy in school through the eyes of Joseph, a nine-year-old African boy.
Produced by Tamara Anghie with Zanzibar Films for the Irish Film Boards Short Cuts scheme, it will screen at 1pm on Sunday, 14th September.
Other films screening at the festival include The Commitments, The Snapper and The Van.
