IFB Shorts Programme to screen at Dingle Film Festival

A selection of Irish Film Board shorts will screen at this weekends Dingle Film Festival. A mix of shorts from the Short Cuts, Short Shorts, Frameworks and Oscailt schemes will feature.

Highlights of the selection include Juanita Wilson's powerful short The Door, based on the true story of a father and his young daughter set in Russia 1986 and the award-winning animation Granny O'Grimms Sleeping Beauty (Nicky Phelan) which picked up the Best Irish Short Animation award at the recent Galway Film Fleadh and the Audience Award for Best Animated Short (Runner Up) at the Palm Springs International Film Festival

Now in it's second year, the Dingle Film Festival's aim is to engage with their audiences by involving them in screenings, workshops, discussions and seminars of the highest standards, allowing them to see, talk about, enjoy and celebrate film.

They want to give filmmakers and film lovers the opportunity to learn from the best. Therefore, a major role of the festival will be presenting a workshop programme with leading experts from within the film industry. This year Gabriel Byrne, Cecilia Peck (co-director of Shut Up & Sing) and Ned Dowd (film producer) will be attending the festival.

The Irish Film Board shorts programme will screen on Saturday 13th September at 3pm and includes:

Spacemen Three (Hugh O'Connor)
The Door (Juanita Wilson)
Hoor (John Kennedy)
Rolla Saor (Cathal Watters)
Bua (Sonya Gildea)
Granny O'Grimms Sleeping Beauty (Nicky Phelan)
Whatever Turns You On (Declan Cassidy)
Atlantic (Conor Ferguson)
