Irish Film Cherrybomb Officially Selected for Berlinale Film Festival
The Irish film Cherrybomb directed by Lisa Barros D'Sa and Glenn Leyburn has officially been selected to screen along with five other titles in the Generation 14 plus of the renowned Berlinale Film Festival in February 2009.Starring Robert Sheehan, Rupert Grint and Kimberley Nixon it tells the story of three teenagers who embark on a wild weekend of drink, drugs, shop-lifting and stealing cars. But what starts out as a game turns deadly serious when they discover the wild ride they've set in motion won't let them get off.
Cherrybomb which was produced by Michael Casey, Mark Huffman and Brian Kirk for Generator Entertainment, Octagon Films, and Green Park Films with funding from Bord Scannan na hEireann/the Irish Film Board (IFB), Northern Ireland Screen, BCI and BBC NI and sales being handled by The Little Film Company. Cherrybomb was filmed in Northern Ireland and developed with the support of the IFB.
Following its success at last years European Film Market (EFM), the IFB will once again have a stand at the market to promote Irish films and festivals as well as provide information on the delegates attending the market.
Irish actress Sarah Bolger will also be attending at the festival in Berlin as she has been selected for the European Film Promotion (EFP) ‘Shooting Stars', the annual new talent forum which takes place at the festival. Sarah, who recently starred in The Spiderwick Chronicles beat off stiff competition to be chosen as one of nine prominent young actors from across Europe.
The 59th Berlin International Film Festival will take place from February 5th - 15th.

On the newly launched website, EFM participants registered with a Market Badge or an EFM Screening Pass have access to the exclusive industry area of the website. The full versions of the Buyers and Exhibitors Lists are only available in this area.
