Irish Film Five Minutes of Heaven Wins Two Awards At Sundance Film Festival

The Irish feature film FIVE MINUTES OF HEAVEN directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel has won two awards at the 25th Sundance Film Festival in Utah this weekend.

At the awards ceremony on Saturday, Hirschbiegel picked up the World Cinema Directing Award: Dramatic while BAFTA winning writer Guy Hibbert (Omagh) was presented the World Cinema Screenwriting Award.

Shot in Northern Ireland during the summer of 2008, the film stars Liam Neeson (Taken, Michael Collins) and James Nesbitt (Murphy's Law, Jekyll) as two Ulstermen; one a murderer, the other the brother of the man he killed, who discover that the past is never dead.

Produced by Eoin O'Callaghan, Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe for Big Fish Films, Ruby Films and Element Pictures, it was co-financed by BBC Films, Pathe, Northern Ireland Screen and the Irish Film Board.  Element Pictures Distribution will oversee the distribution of the film in Ireland in the coming months.
