New Irish Cinema and Events at the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival

The Irish Film Board (IFB) is delighted to be the Official Industry Partner of the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival which takes place this year from the 12th-22nd February.  The focus this year for the IFB is the promotion of Irish films and documentaries, Irish talent, creativity and the providing of opportunities for international industry guests to discover new Irish cinema.

Irish Film
This year there is a strong focus on new Irish films and documentaries presented in association with the IFB.

The festival will premiere a number of Irish films and documentaries including EAMON, Margaret Corkery's debut feature film which she wrote and directed.  Starring Darren Healy and Amy Kirwan, the film tells the story of Eamon, a little boy with behavioural problems and the destructive relationship of his selfish mother and his sexually frustrated father.

The closing night gala will premiere THE SECRET OF KELLS, Cartoon Saloon's animated feature directed by Tomm Moore.  The film which features the voice talent of Brendan Gleeson and Mick Lally, tells the story of an orphan named Brendan who is set the task of completing the Book of Kells.  The task sees him called to a new life of creativity and imagination where adventure, danger and action await him.

Audiences will also get an opportunity to see CHERRYBOMB, directed by Lisa Barros D'Sa and Glenn Leyburn which premiered at the Berlinale Film Festival and the documentary CREATIVE CHAOS: ROUND ONE directed by Hassan Zbib which has been selected for the International Competition of the Cinéma du Réel documentary festival in Paris in March.
