New Splanc! Documentary Series Seeks Irish Filmmaker Contributions as it goes Into Pre-Production
Underground Films and Odyssey Media are delighted to announce pre-production on the new Splanc! documentary series and feature documentary for TG4 and are currently looking for contributions from Irish filmmakers.Splanc! takes an intimate look at filmmaking in Ireland as a visual expression of Irish culture and will celebrate contemporary filmmakers, in both the Irish and English language. Taking a broad and inclusive view of the art of filmmaking and the evolution of film as an art form in this country, Splanc! will bring real artistic and cultural value to primetime television audiences.
Over the coming weeks, Underground Films and Odyssey Media will be actively seeking footage and archive contributions from producers to illustrate this story of Irish filmmaking. Producers shooting in summer and autumn 2009, who would like their productions to be included in this series, should contact Underground Films.
This is a great opportunity to be involved in a compelling, contemporary exploration of the history of filmmaking in Ireland. Looking at notions of nation, the series and feature documentary will examine how the Irish have been viewed abroad, and how the Irish represent themselves on screen.
