Production Update August 2003

The production industry in Ireland is extremely busy with many productions underway and lots of projects going into pre-production.

IN PRE-PRODUCTION: FEATURE FILMS

  • TRISTAN & ISOLDE to be produced by Octagon Films is scheduled to begin production in late August.
  • THE BLACKWATER LIGHTSHIP to be produced by Lakeshore Productions is scheduled to shoot from the 25th August to the end of September.
  • INSIDE I'M DANCING to be produced by Octagon Films and directed by Damian O'Donnell is scheduled to start shooting in October.

IN PRODUCTION: FEATURE FILMS

  • MAN ABOUT DOG to be produced by Treasure Films and directed by Paddy Breathnach started shooting on Monday 25th August.
  • ARE YOU LOOKING AT ME which is being produced by Besom Production and directed by Margo Harkin is shooting until the end of August.
  • BITE, a romantic comedy, is to be produced by Fubar Productions and directed by Fintan Connolly. Production began at the end of July.
  • KING ARTHUR, a co-production between World 2000 and Touchstone Pictures/Jerry Bruckheimer Pictures, started production in June and is scheduled to shoot until November this year. This project has a total budget of €90 million and is the largest budget film ever to be shot in Ireland.
  • STARFISH, an ultra-low budget feature, to be produced by Stephen Kane and produced by Starfish Productions started production this week. The project is expected to shoot for 5 weeks.
  • LAWS OF ATTRACTION is just finished production and was produced by Hells Kitchen and Intermedia. This project has a budget of €30 million and stars Pierce Brosnan and Julianne Moore.

IN PRODUCTION: TV SERIES

  • THE BIG BOW WOW, a 20-something TV series, to be produced by Praxis Pictures and directed by Dearbhla Walsh, started production on August 18th for eleven weeks.
  • The third series of BACHELORS WALK started shooting on the 11th August and is produced by Accomplice TV.
  • THE CLINIC produced by Parallel Films is currently in production and will finish up in mid-September.
  • EXPENSIVE SILENCE to be produced by Subotica Entertainment is half way through production and will finish up at the beginning of September.

IN PRODUCTION: ANIMATION PROJECTS

  • Terraglyph Productions are currently working on the ISLE OF INNIS COOL, an animated TV series.
  • THE BOY WHO HAD NO STORY has also gone into production and is being produced by Brown Bag Films.
  • MOBY DICK, an animated feature to be produced by Terraglyph productions is scheduled to go into production towards the end of the Summer.

IN POST-PRODUCTION: FEATURE FILMS

  • DEAD MEAT, the first ultra-low budget project funded by the Irish Film Board has just is currently in post-production. Shooting finished up in Leitrim in May.
  • THE RETURN, which went into production in April, also finished in early May and is being produced by Octagon Films and Granada is currently in post-production.
