The Man Inside awarded Best European Dramatic Short at the European Independent Film Festival.
The Irish short film The Man Inside, written and directed by Rory Bresnihan has been named the Best European Dramatic Short at the European Independent Film Festival in Paris.113 independent filmmakers from 27 countries competed for the 23 awards given out at the festival which has proven to be a discovery point for many of Europe's talented independent filmmakers.
Based on a short story by Fernando Sorrentino, the film tells the story of Lisandro who accidently locks himself into his apartment. It was produced by Lucy Dyke for Broken Pictures as part of the Irish Film Board's Signatures short film scheme.
Other Irish short films experiencing success internationally include the Short Shorts Whatever Turns You On and Pump Action.
Pump Action, written and directed by Frank Reid is screening this month as part of the Dutch online film festival Go Short and has been bought to be broadcast on HBO Hungary in June. Meanwhile Whatever Turns You On, written and directed by Declan Cassidy has been officially selected for competition at the 11/22 Int. Comedy Short Film Festival in Vienna in June.
Both of these short films were co-funded by the Irish Film Board as part of the Short Shorts scheme.
