Stranger Than Fiction Documentary Festival - Deadline for Submissions Drawing Close
If you are an independent Irish documentary filmmaker and haven't yet applied to participate in the Stranger Than Fiction Documentary Festival, you need to act fast as the deadline for submissions is drawing close.The early bird deadline for applications, offering free entry, which was originally April 1 has now been extended to Friday April 17, while the final submission deadline is Monday May 4 2009.
The festival, which has changed its dates and will now take place 18 - 21 June rather in September, is looking for submissions of short documentary films (maximum of 15 minutes) in the following categories for possible inclusion in the festival:
Short Irish Films
Short International Films
Submissions must arrive before the final closing date of 4th May 2009 with the non-refundable entry fee of €25 in order to be considered for inclusion in the festival.
The judges who will present an award for Best Film in both categories have been announced as director Lenny Abrahamson (Garage); David Rane (Guth Gufa Documentary Festival); Boris Despodov, Bulgarian director (Corridor #8); Micheál Ó Meallaigh (Head of Commissioning, TG4); Alan Maher (IFB Production Executive) and Bob Quinn (Poitín).
The 2008 Stranger Than Fiction Festival was a success with increased audience figures and an exciting selection of twenty four of the best documentaries from around the world and 14 short documentaries.
