Farewell Packets of Ten to screen in the IFI

The successful short film Farewell Packets of Ten directed by Ken Wardrop will screen later this month in the IFI with the feature film Shifty, as part of the Irish Shorts @ IFI series.

The short documentary sees two ladies discuss the pros and cons of their mutual addictions to fags and their attempts to give them up.  The film picked up the Best Short Documentary prize at the Worldwide Short Film Festival in Toronto 2007 and has been officially selected for a number of prestigious international festivals such as the Sundance Film Festival in 2008 and the Silverdocs Documentary Festival in the US in 2008.

Shifty, a drama written and directed by English director Eran Creevy follows the day in the life of Shifty, a young Muslim crack cocaine dealer. Charismatic, compassionate and intelligent, he comes from a respectable family, but is also the most prolific dealer in the area. When his old friend returns to the town, it sets into action a series of events that will see Shifty fighting for survival.

Farewell Packets of Ten was produced by Andrew Freedman for Venom Films with funding from the Irish Film Board.  Ken Wardrop and Andrew Freedman are currently filming their feature documentary One Hundred to One Outsiders.

Farewell Packets of Ten and Shifty will screen in the IFI from April 24th.
