A Film With Me In It Wins Top Award At Istanbul Film Festival
The Irish dark comedy A FILM WITH ME IN IT directed by Ian Fitzgibbon picked up the Special Jury Prize at the 28th International Istanbul Film Festival at the weekend. Fitzgibbon was in Istanbul to accept this prestigious festival award on behalf of the producers, cast and crew. The jury described the film as "a rare comedy which keeps you laughing from beginning to end with its unusual story and dark, dark humour".
Written by and starring Mark Doherty, the film also stars Dylan Moran, Keith Allen and Amy Huberman. Mark is having a bad day. A struggling actor, he's just been through the ordeal of yet another fruitless audition for a bit part in a movie. With his long-suffering girlfriend about to walk out and his landlord ready to evict him he's only got his best mate and their joint ambition of writing a career-breaking film to sustain him. Life¹s not easy, but things get worse - much worse.
Producer Alan Moloney said today "it is quite a coup for a small Irish film to be awarded the top prize in Istanbul. It's great to know that Irish humour has an international appeal", while Simon Perry, Chief Executive of the Irish Film Board said "Comedies almost never win prizes. So an award for A Film With Me In It is further proof of the uniqueness of this Irish film".
The film was produced by Alan Moloney of Parallel Films with finance from Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board.
