Whatever Turns You On selected to screen at Palm Springs International Shortfest

Declan Cassidy's short film WHATEVER TURNS YOU ON has been officially selected to screen at the prestigious Palm Springs International Shortfest next month.

The festival which showcases more than 320 short films each year from more than 40 countries has a library of more than 2,700 films available to film buyers, industry and press at the concurrent Short Film Market.  Brown Bag Films Granny O'Grimm's Sleeping Beauty, directed by Nicky Phelan received the Audience Award for Best Animated Short (runner up) prize at last years festival. 

The festival has six competitive categories, with cash awards or film production prizes in each category.  All first place winners in the live action, animation and best of the festival categories automatically qualify for Oscar nomination consideration.  Since the festival's inception, 65 short films featured at the event have gone on to garner Academy Award nominations.

Whatever Turns You On will also make its Canadian premiere at the same time, having made the official selection for the Nickel Film Fest in Newfoundland while the following week sees the film play at Maremetraggio in Trieste, Italy.

Produced by Bill Tyson for Timesnap Ltd, the film was produced as part of the Short Shorts scheme co-funded by the Irish Film Board.

Liam Gavin's short film SUNSHOWER has also been selected for this year's festival.

The Palm Springs International ShortFest takes place June 23 - 29.
