Posted: 8th September 2022

Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland is delighted with the announcement of the full programme of the 33rd Edition of the Dinard Festival of British Film by Mr Arnaud Salmon, Mayor of Dinard, as well as the introduction of the Jury: José Garcia (President) with Ouyala Amamra, George Blagden, Hugo Gélin, Adrian Lester & Alice Pol. The festival will run from September 28th to October 2nd.

Artistic Director, Dominique Green unveiled the programme of 31 feature films and 8 shorts, including 5 Screen Ireland-supported features.

The Festival is presented in five strands, with the six competition films amongst them:

  • ITS RAINING MEN: Male protagonists in unexpected situations.
  • GIRL POWER!: Female passion and creativity.
  • CINEMA - PAST PRESENT & FUTURE: including a tribute to Peter Brook.
  • ECCENTRICS & FREE SPIRITS: There’s no holding them back!
  • IRISH EYES IN DINARD: New films from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

We are proud to support the five films that are part of the Irish Eyes in Dinard strand. Three powerful narrative feature films (Antonia Campbell-Hughes' It Is In Us All, Colm Bairéad's An Cailín Ciúin and Michael Kinirons' The Sparrow) will join two award-winning feature documentaries (Kathryn Ferguson's Nothing Compares and Declan McGrath & Neasa Ní Chianáin's Young Plato). We are delighted to congratulate the creative teams behind these films on their selection to the French festival.

Additional events will include:

  • Four ‘Specials’ including two greatly anticipated French Premieres: The Banshees of Inisherin and Good Luck To You, Leo Grande – the closing night film.
  • Five Masterclasses which include a presentation of the making of The Gallery, to accompany the screening of Dinard’s first interactive film.
  • A School's Festival Sept 19-23rd screening ten British films to more than 8,000 in five cinemas.

About the Dinard British Film Festival:
From social commentary to outlandish comedy, costume-filled romps to enthralling dramas, British filmmakers have demonstrated time and time again a unique talent for bringing a picture to life, incorporating an immense vivacity to their works, be they humorous or brutal. The Dinard British Film Festival came into existence around the same time British cinema was reborn, and ever since the festival has enjoyed, and excelled in, the role of ‘cinematographic bridge’ between Britain and France. Through its Irish strand, the festival is also highlighting the richness of Irish cinema in its 33rd edition. More information can be found here.
