Call for Applications: European Shooting Stars 2023

Screen Ireland is delighted to open its call for applications for Ireland's submission to the 2023 edition of the annual European Shooting Stars Award.
EFP EUROPEAN SHOOTING STARS, one of European Film Promotion's flagship programmes, has placed some of the most promising young actors from all over Europe into the limelight over the past 25 years and proven to be an essential stepping stone for launching their international careers. Each year, up-and-coming actors from all over Europe – who have already made a name for themselves in their home countries – are nominated by the EFP member organisations to take part in the prestigious programme. A jury of industry professionals selects the ten most interesting and internationally versatile talents to be introduced to the press, industry and public at the Berlin International Film Festival. As a European Shooting Star, the actors and actresses attend a tailor-made programme, including meetings with casting directors, talent agents and producers, which broadens and strengthens their international industry alliances and networks.
Past Irish Shooting Stars include Clare Dunne, Fionn O'Shea, Aisling Franciosi, Moe Dunford, Antonia Campbell-Hughes and Domhnall Gleeson.
This year's Irish Shooting Star nominee should:
- have the potential and personal commitment to work internationally. The nominee shall have experience in Ireland but should be a discovery for the international film scene.
- have a main role or starring role (indicated as a lead cast in credits) in a feature-length film or a high-end drama series with international appeal to be released in 2023/2024.
- be over 18 years old.
- speak English fluently.
- be physically available during the Berlin International Film Festival (16-20 February 2024) and to be virtually available before and after the festival.
- be prepared to take an active role in the Shooting Stars PR and Social Media campaign.
