Atom Town and The Wee Littles: brand new Irish animation making its way to audiences this year

Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland and Animation Ireland are delighted to share news of two brand new animated series coming to audiences in 2022, from the family adventures of The Wee Littles to the colourful chemistry-based Atom Town.
The Wee Littles
Magpie 6 Media’s new preschool series The Wee Littles will be coming to RTÉ Junior later this year (air date TBD) The show follows the adventures of a Wee Little family, living, loving, and sharing in a great big world. The Wee Littles’ stories are about how they handle being very small in a very big world using their own inventive flair. How do you deal with a housefly in the kitchen when it’s as big as a Beagle? Or how do you keep dry when raindrops are the size of your head? The Wee Littles work together to overcome life’s little obstacles by using imagination, positive support and humour.
Series development was funded by both Screen Ireland and Creative Europe, exploring an innovative animation method the company has dubbed “SimStop”. The process keeps the charm of traditional stop motion, maintaining it within today’s tight budgets. The result is a wonderful blend of traditional appeal and a unique look with a contemporary flare. The show is funded by BAI, RTE, WRAP, and Screen Ireland; and will be distributed by Toon 2 Tango.
Atom Town
Treehouse Republic and Turnip & Duck have joined forces to bring the magic and wonder of the Universe to life through the colourful adventures of the residents of Atom Town. Atom Town is a colourful community of characters based on chemistry and the Periodic Table, where our loveable cast - The Elements - have fun and adventures playing together in their magical world where anything is possible!
A unique chemistry primer for young audiences, Atom Town will introduce kids to fundamental chemistry concepts in a very subtle way – through story, humour, dazzling animation, and unforgettable characters. The capers of the Atom Town Elements will, over time, make the language of chemistry as familiar to children as that of dinosaurs, and provide a solid foundation for science education in later life. Atom Town is coming to screens in late 2022.
