BA (Hons) in Screen Industry Practice (Level 8) RPEL Programme Now Accepting Applications from Experienced Screen Professionals for Next Cohort

Posted: 11th September 2025

This week, the School of Media at Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin) and Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland (Screen Ireland) have opened applications for the next intake of the new Level 8 BA (Hons) in Screen Industry Practice, commencing in November 2025. This programme was developed in consultation with colleagues in the Irish screen industry and is supported by the TU Dublin Enterprise Academy and Cultural and Creative Industries Skillnet.

The BA (Hons) in Screen Industry Practice offers experienced practitioners across all roles and departments of the screen sector, an accelerated route to an honours degree. The programme will run part-time over 18 months (November 2025 -May 2027) and is delivered in a hybrid format (online and in-person) to allow participants to continue in full-time careers.

With an interactive, discussion and project-based approach to learning, the course offers experienced screen industry professionals the opportunity to build on their years of experience in the screen sector and to learn more about areas of interest to them.

Participants will join a diverse class of their peers, to learn about and discuss a broad range of topical themes in the screen sector including sustainability, EDI, cultural representation on screen, film narrative, and media audiences. In addition, participants will be introduced to approaches to research, critical reflection and self-directed learning. They will also have the option to choose from a wide range of elective modules on offer and complete a major project in an area of particular interest to them.

Successful applicants can avail of a membership rate supported by Screen Ireland and Cultural and Creative Industries Skillnet via the European Social Fund (the Government of Ireland, the European Union, and network companies). #EUInMyRegion

To support applicants for the programme, who will need to demonstrate a substantial portfolio of prior learning, a portfolio preparation module is available. This is currently accepting applications. More details are available here.

The deadline to apply for the BA (Hons) in Screen Industry Practice is Wednesday, 15th October 2025, 5pm.
