Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board (IFB) welcomes Josepha Madigan, T.D. as the new Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, announced today by An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, TD. The IFB also wishes to thank outgoing Minister Heather Humphreys for her strong support of the Irish screen industries throughout her tenure.

Speaking about the appointment, Dr Annie Doona, Chair of Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board (IFB) said:

“On behalf of the IFB, I would like to extend our congratulations to Josepha Madigan TD on her appointment as Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht. We look forward to working closely with the newly appointed Minister at this important time for the Irish screen industries, where continued support for the sector is vital to capitalise on the success of recent years.

“We also look forward to working with the Minister on Creative Ireland — particularly on Pillar 4 — to build on the strong foundations laid down by the sector and to further establish Ireland as a global centre of excellence for media production.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Minister Heather Humphreys for her work in her role as Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht. We are especially grateful for the Minister’s acknowledgment of the important role of the IFB through sustained increases in funding in recent years, and we wish her every success in her new position as Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation.”
