Boulder Media Announce Plans to Open Second Dublin Animation Studio

Posted: 7th June 2017

Boulder Media, with HWBC, today announced that it is opening a second studio space in Dublin at 2-4 Claremont Road, fronting onto Sandymount Green in Dublin 4. Boulder will also continue operating at its current location on Hawkins Street. Boulder was acquired in 2016 by Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAS), and produces animation projects for Hasbro Studios, as well as third-party clients.

“We are expanding significantly, hiring additional crew and starting new, exciting projects,” said Robert Cullen, creative director, Boulder Media.

“Our centrally-located, modern new studio space is going to help us attract top talent and continue to produce best-in-class animation from Dublin.”

The new 1,850-square-meter space features an open floor plan across two levels, which will support the Studio’s collaborative, creative culture. Boulder chose the space because of its proximity to the city center, transport links and the family-friendly character of Sandymount Green, which aligns well with the shows they produce. Boulder will open the new studio in August 2017.

The Studio, whose current slate includes animation for TransformersLittlest Pet Shop for Hasbro Studios, as well as Danger Mouse (Fremantle/BBC) and Dorothy and the Wonders of Oz (Warner Brothers), is ramping up to deliver innovative animation and storytelling across multiple formats and genres. In addition to opening a second studio, Boulder is also adding more third-party studio relationships into the mix.

Stephen Davis, executive vice president and chief content officer, Hasbro, Inc. added:

“As part of our long-term strategy around storytelling, we are consolidating many of our animation projects under Boulder, which will allow us to drive greater efficiency and explore new modalities of production and creativity across our entire animation slate.

“We have been and will continue to be fundamentally committed to storytelling across all formats and all screens, and the team at Boulder play a critical role in helping us bring our brands to life for audiences around the world.”

Boulder has been steadily hiring for positions in conceptual design, 2D and 3D animation, as well as animated CG feature film. Interested parties can view available positions at www.bouldermedia.tv, or email jobs@bouldermedia.tv.
