Call for Script Editors / Gairm ar Scríbhneoirí Scripte

In late 2024 Fís Éireann / Screen Ireland (Screen Ireland) launched Perspectives, a pilot development and production initiative for filmmakers, providing a window into experiences and viewpoints that may not have been widely represented on the big screen before with a focus on original, authentic stories that can touch on a wide range of experiences across Irish life, culture and communities. It will support the development and production of live action fiction feature films that can ultimately be produced at the required budget range of €750,000 – €950,000 through a number of stages.
Screen Ireland is assembling a panel of diverse and experienced Script Editors to support this initiative. This panel is now open for applications. If you have significant relevant industry experience and are interested in working with filmmaking talent on the first draft of their screenplay, we would like to hear from you.
The Role of the Script Editor
As part of the scheme, the Script Editor will provide 1:1 support to an individual writer or teams of writers, directors and producers through the development of their script. You will provide critical editorial feedback and offer creative solutions to enhance the story within the required timeframe. Each Script Editor may work across multiple projects selected for the Scheme. The Script Editor will be paid a fee of €2,000 - €3,000 (excluding VAT) per project (inclusive of expenses). A Script Editor may be engaged to work on multiple projects within the scheme.
Eligibility
Applicants must have a minimum of two years experience working as a professional independent Script Editor at a senior level in the film industry with a proven track record of working with emerging/new screenwriting talent. A knowledge of the limitations of low budget filmmaking is preferable.

Script Editors will be selected for the panel based on current scheme needs identified by Screen Ireland. Screen Ireland welcomes submissions from applicants from diverse backgrounds.

Ról an Eagarthóra Scripte
Mar chuid den scéim, cuirfidh an tEagarthóir Scripte tacaíocht duine le duine ar fáil do scríbhneoir aonair nó d’fhoirne scríbhneoirí, stiúrthóirí agus léiritheoirí trí fhorbairt a gcuid scripteanna. Tabharfaidh tú aiseolas eagarthóireachta grinn dóibh agus molfaidh tú réitigh chruthaitheacha chun na scéalta a fheabhsú lastigh den achar ama riachtanach. D’fhéadfadh go n-oibreoidh aon Eagarthóir Scripte ar an iliomad tograí a roghnófar don Scéim. Íocfar táille €2,000 - €3,000 (gan CBL) don Eagarthóir Scripte in aghaidh an togra (costaisí san áireamh). Is féidir Eagarthóir Scripte a fhostú le bheith ag obair ar an iliomad tograí lastigh den scéim.
Cáilitheacht
Ní mór d’íosmhéid dhá bhliana taithí a bheith ag iarratasóirí ar obair mar Eagarthóir Scripte neamhspleách proifisiúnta ag leibhéal sinsearach san earnáil scannáin agus dea-theist chruthaithe a bheith acu de bheith ag obair le tallann scríbhneoireachta scáileáin éiritheach/nua. Is fiú eolas ar theorainn a bhaineann le scannánaíocht bheagchostais a bheith ag iarratasóirí.
