Today, January 27, Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board (IFB) is hosting Filming Across Ireland; a seminar exploring the benefits of regional filmmaking, in Troy Studios, Limerick.

Through a series of talks and panel discussions, the event will address topics such as ‘Ireland as a Location’, ‘Film Tourism’ and ‘Location Requirements for Filming’ with the aim of showcasing how every county in Ireland can be film-ready.

IFB’s Steven Davenport will give a talk on Ireland as filming location followed by Brian Twomey of Tourism Ireland who will speak about the tourism benefits that regional filmmaking holds. The event will also be attended by producers such as Ruth Treacy (The Lodgers), Julianne Forde (The Lodgers), Julie Ryan (The Young Offenders) Naoise Barry (Star Wars VIII) and directors Peter Foott (The Young Offenders) and Conor McDermottroe (Halal Daddy) who will participate in a panel discussion about filming in the regions.

Various representatives from regional film offices will also be in attendance alongside the Mayor of Limerick, as well as location managers such as Mick Swan and Dermot Cleary who will offer advice on the various location requirements for filming.

The day will conclude with a tour of Troy Studios, facilitated by Michelle Brassil.
